Eye Conditions

Amblyopia (Lazy Eye) – the loss or lack of development of clear vision in just one eye.

Astigmatism – a condition that causes blurred vision due either to the irregular shape of the cornea or sometimes the curvature of the lens inside the eye.

Blepharitis – an inflammation of the eyelids and eyelashes causing red, irritated, itchy eyelids and the formation of dandruff like scales on eyelashes.

Cataracts – is a clouding that develops in the normally clear lens of the eye.

Colour-blindness - The inability to distinguish certain shades of colors or see colors at all in more severe cases.

Computer Vision Syndrome – is eye and vision-related problems that result from prolonged computer use.

Diabetic Retinopathy - A condition that causes progressive damage to the retina, the light sensitive lining at the back of the eye, in people with diabetes.

Dry Eye Syndrome – is caused by insufficient tears to lubricate and nourish the eye.

Eye Allergies – is the abnormal response of sensitive eyes to contact with allergens and other irritants.

Floaters – are small specks or dots that can be seen against a bright background like a white wall. They are harmless and can increase over long periods of time. However, if a floater comes on abruptly or there are suddenly more you should be examined immediately.

Glaucoma – a condition in which the optic nerve is damaged which can cause permanently damage vision in the affected eye(s) and lead to blindness if left untreated.

Hyperopia (Farsightedness) - is a defect caused by an imperfection in the eye causing difficulty focusing on near objects.

Keratoconus - is a degenerative disorder in which structural changes within the cornea cause it to thin and change to a more conical shape than its normal round curve.

Macular Degeneration – a condition that affects older adults and results in a loss of vision due to damage to the retina.

Myopia (Nearsightedness) - a condition in which you can see close objects clearly, but objects farther away are blurred.

Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) - an inflammation or infection of the thin transparent layer of tissue that lines the inner surface of the eyelid and covers the white part of the eye.

Presbyopia - the gradual loss of the eye’s ability to focus on near objects in older adults.

Retinal Detachment - a separation of the retina from the underlying tissue.

Strabismus (Crossed Eyes) - a condition in which the eyes are not properly aligned with each other and prevents bringing the gaze of each eye to the same point in space.
